Welcome to Objectivism 101

This site is designed to explain to you the system of ideas known as Objectivism. You'll find descriptions of many of the key ideas as well as details on how those ideas come together to create a better understanding of the world we live in. You'll find explanations of why Objectivism supports these ideas so you can make up your own mind on whether they're true or not.

Objectivism is a philosophy, which is just another word for how you view the world. Everyone has a philosophy, even if they don't know it. There's no way to avoid it. It's the way you make sense of the world. It's how you put your knowledge together into an understanding of the world. It's how you make choices, weigh costs and benefits, and decide how to live your life.

You don't have a choice about whether to have a philosophy or not, but you do have the ability to decide what kind of philosophy to have. You can choose to identify your beliefs and see if they really make sense. You can look for mistaken beliefs you might have accidentally accepted. You can choose to adopt better ideas, and apply your understanding to every area of your life. You can make up your own mind about what you'll believe and what you won't.

The goal of this site is to explain the philosophy of Objectivism. It isn't intended to try to convince you to adopt these ideas. That's a decision you have to make on your own. Instead, it is intended to describe and clarify the ideas behind Objectivism. For those already familiar with it, it seeks to provide a deeper understanding. For those new to it, it seeks to provide a clear description and provide you with further resources if you're interested. In either case, the goal is to provide you the tools to make informed choices.

Welcome, and enjoy.
